Most multiplatform games appear to go for gameplay over graphics. Keeping to the same old not adding anything much new
With the cryengine 3 showing off that multiplatform games can have some of the best graphics around. My question is does this show that most devs don't push the bar when it comes to tech. As it costs to much Meaning we get titles turned around very quick but looking very samey not pushing the bar. Aint it about time that graphics where updated across the board to cryengeine 3 standards or close ?
My reason is that consoles so far have not been pushed. Or is it not time for that push ? as the costs are still high. Apart from in first party titles where the roof is being moved
Also the engine used means the gameplay also kept the same with worlds you can't completely ruin in most games.
*Note i know graphics engines and physics engines are different things i was using graphics as a example*

They'll always hold back, due to the cost of production.
PC must be the easiest to make a game on, then the 360 due to it's PC like similarities. Therefore instead of utilising whatever benefits the PS3 may have (as I think it's more powerful, though not sure as I'm not a tech guy) and it will just get a port from the 360.
Which is a shame as if they did some multiplatform games to the standards of Uncharted and Killzone 2's quality, it would be immense!
Having said that Dead Space and Resident Evil 5 looks great on both systems.

I would argue differently. For example, Assassin's Creed 2 on both PS3 and 360 (I have platinumed the PS3 version, btw) look phenominal, really really beautiful and I doubt that they will be able to eek anything else out of the consoles.
On the other side of the scale though, you have something like Grand Theft Auto IV, which looks terrible on PS3 (Blurry, muddly and bogged in slowdown) compared to the X360 version. Until games are developed simelatiously on both platforms and not on one and then ported to the other will they not push the graphical capabilities of the consoles.
Also they have to do it to keep the two balanced. If they pushed the max on both consoles, then the PS3 version would look better than the 360 Version, and you cant have that.
